...MCDONALDS A-Z ADVERT...

...i spent part of april and may working for the set designer and art director rhea thierstein on a television advert for mcdonalds...it was the first time i had worked for rhea and i really enjoyed it and it was a really creative job...

...this is the full advert...

...i got to make a lot of cardboard letters for the advert...these then had remote control car mechanisms in them so they could be driven...

...these were made from cardboard using many scalpel blades and glue gun sticks...

...and dry brushed muted colours and brushed over with white o give an aged finish...

...we also made some kinectic parts for a large machine called the recycle-o-matic...

...these were also made of cardboard and were also made from cardboard...the switches can be moved up and down on this piece...

...and these twist...

...they were cut down into shorter sections and built up...

...and then painted using the same effects as on the letters...

...when you twist the handles on this piece the banners rotate...

...the mechanism inside...

...all cardboard...and kebab sticks...

...a more in depth advert for just a-d...

...this is a starter pistol i had to put together...

...it is made from two different guns...rhea wanted the mechanism of one but the look of another...

...then painted...

...and a hand painted flag added...it wasn't used in the final advert as it was deemed a bit inappropriate for a mcdonalds advert...

...we also made a lot of 'z' lanterns for the advert...

...we created a frame from bamboo canes and papier-mâché tissue paper over them...they looked really beautiful with the light glowing through them...

...and this was the beautiful farm where part of the advert was shot...

...and the beautiful horses...
